TURNING SIDE-STREAMS INTO MICROPLASTIC FREE COATINGS
CHITIN
The second most abundant organic resource after cellulose. Chitin is found in anything from the exoskeletons of insects, cell walls of fungi and the shells of crustaceans (such as shrimp)

Shells are cleaned for high purity grades and deacytelated to form chitosan, a biological polymer that has applications in various fields such as cosmetics, med-tech, personal care, food supplements and packaging.
COATINGS
Paper based packaging is typically coated with a petroleum based material. This makes the recycling process of the paper near to impossible. By upcycling an existing organic side-stream we can reduce our dependancy on fossil fuels, increase recyclability and provide the necessary protection.

By using chitosan we completely eliminate the presence of microplastics in food packaging, whilst maintaining industry standards in food safety and barrier functionality.
CIRCULARITY
The inherent nature of our coating allows the packaging to be recycled or composted in its entirety, creating a no-waste scenario.
